Storage

Refrigerated storage.

gojaro must be stored in a refrigerator between 2 °C and 8 °C, protected from freezing and from direct sunlight.

How to use

Once weekly, subcutaneous.

Each vial is administered subcutaneously once a week using a 1 mL syringe. The starting dose is 2.5 mg per week and may be increased by 2.5 mg every four weeks based on the physician's instructions and the patient's response. The maximum weekly dose is 15 mg.

Contraindications

Do not use if…

Do not use if you have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, or of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2).

Warnings & precautions

Not for every condition.

Tirzepatide is not for the treatment of type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, and is not for use in anyone under 18 years of age.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding

Not recommended.

Use of gojaro is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Side effects

Mostly gastrointestinal.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation, abdominal pain, heartburn, and decreased appetite — typically mild to moderate in severity.

Drug interactions

Watch these combinations.

Because tirzepatide slows gastrointestinal motility, the absorption of some other medicines may be affected — monitor the dose of drugs with a narrow therapeutic window when co-administered. Concurrent use with insulin secretagogues (such as sulfonylureas) or insulin may increase the risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). Patients taking oral hormonal contraceptives should use an additional non-hormonal physical method of contraception during the first 4 weeks of tirzepatide therapy and for 4 weeks after any dose increase.
