How to use Gojaro.

Every dose follows the same seven steps. Read the leaflet each time you receive a new vial, and never share your vial, syringe, or needles.

Phase 1 — Prepare

Set up your workspace and check the vial.

Step 1

Wash.

Wash your hands with soap and water before you begin. Prepare a clean, flat surface to lay out your supplies.

Take the Gojaro vial out of the refrigerator. Confirm that the name on the label matches your prescription and that the vial has not expired or been damaged.

Gojaro solution should be clear, colourless to slightly yellow.

Do not
Do not use the vial if the medicine has been frozen, has particles, is cloudy, or is discoloured.
Step 2

Check.

Step 3

Wipe.

Wipe the rubber stopper of the vial with an alcohol pad and allow it to dry completely before inserting the needle.

Pull the plunger back to draw air into the syringe equal to your prescribed dose. Insert the needle straight down through the centre of the rubber stopper, then push the plunger in to inject the air into the vial.

This makes it easier to draw out the liquid medicine.

Step 4

Draw air.

Step 5

Draw dose.

With the needle still in the vial, turn the vial and syringe upside down. Make sure the tip of the needle stays in the liquid. Slowly pull back the plunger to draw the prescribed dose into the syringe.

Check the syringe for air bubbles. If you see them, tap the syringe gently and slowly push the plunger up to return the bubbles to the vial. Then draw the dose again until you reach the correct mark.

Step 6

Clear air.

Step 7

Change needle.

Remove the drawing-up needle and place it in your sharps container. Attach a new injection needle (yellow, 30G) to the syringe and twist until it is tight. Keep the needle cap on until you are ready to inject.

Phase 2 — Inject

Choose your site. Insert. Slowly push.

Self-injection: thigh or abdomen (at least 5 cm from the navel). Injection by another person: back of the upper arm. Change the site each week.

Thigh, abdomen (≥ 5 cm from navel), or back of upper arm.

2
Clean.

Wipe with alcohol pad; let it dry.

3
Insert.

45–90°, angle recommended by your provider.

4
Push.

Slowly press the plunger all the way down.

5
Remove.

Pull the needle straight out. A droplet on the tip is normal.

Phase 3 — After

Dispose safely.

If you see blood after removing the needle, press lightly with gauze or a cotton ball. Do not rub the injection site.

Place the used vial, syringe, and needles in a sharps container immediately after use.

If you do not have a sharps container
You may use a household container that is:
  • Made of heavy-duty plastic
  • Closable with a puncture-resistant, tight-fitting lid
  • Upright, stable, and leak-resistant during use
  • Properly labelled to warn of hazardous waste inside
Do not recycle sharps containers or throw loose needles/syringes in household trash.
